Family wants “killer monkeys” charged for stoning man to death
In a weird though shocking incident, an elderly man was stoned to death by monkeys. The incident took place in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. A troop of monkeys surrounded the elderly man and started hurling stones at him and injured him grievously.
The police have registered the matter in the case terming it on dairy as ‘accident.’ However, the family of the deceased is not convinced. They want an FIR (charge) to be registered against the accused monkeys.
Dharampal Singh,72 years old, was collecting the pieces of dry wood for ‘havan’ when the monkeys allegedly hurled bricks at him from the top of a tree. A badly injured Singh breathed his last at a hospital where he was undergoing treatment. The incident happened in Tikri village.
The monkeys reportedly threw over 20 bricks at the 72-year-old deceased which hit him on chest, head, and legs. The family has made a complaint against the monkeys seeking the police to book them. The police, on the other hand, does not seem to be in a mood to entertain the demand.
“How can we register the case against monkeys? This will make us a laughing stock. I don’t think it is a logical demand,” Station officer of Doghat police station Chitwan Singh was quoted as saying in a news report.
